Our Story

Basil and Butter was born in 2014– from friendship and a passion for making food that is not merely consumed, but rather experienced. The story of how the company came to be goes back much further, though.

Natalie and Bianca have both been in the kitchen as long as they’ve been friends– for 17 years.

Natalie started a cooking blog (youngandhungy.co.za) while Bianca founded a baking company (bakedbybi.co.za). 

Teaming up seemed obvious, and so Basil and Butter was founded. Natalie’s flair for starters and mains coupled with Bianca’s imaginative and delectable desserts make for catering that is nothing short of spectacular.

With a focus on local, seasonal ingredients and creating bespoke experiences through décor and food, Basil and Butter creates occasions and events that are easy to organise and impossible to forget.


We don’t do packages or one-size-fits all eventing. 

Instead, we carefully consider each and every element of your event– from the décor to the food and the company– to conjure a bespoke experience that allows you to enjoy yourself, knowing that we’ve got everything covered. 

Whether you simply need a platter or you’d like a lavish tasting menu, we’ll work closely with you to create an occasion that’s customised, considered and memorable. 

Currently, we cater for a maximum of 50 people.
